LIVERPOOL BACKED FOR WIN OVER MILAN

Merseyside giants Liverpool have been backed for a win over Italian Serie A giants AC Milan by one of their strikers. Michael Owen spent several years in the Liverpool first team having come through the club’s academy. Owen was a key player for the Reds throughout his time at the club.


Owen predicted the outcome of the Champions League game between hosts Liverpool and AC Milan at Anfieldon Wednesday night on his Bet Victor blog. According to him, Liverpool will start their Champions League campaign in Group B with a 2-0 win over the Rossoneri.

Milan are back in the Champions League after seven years away from the competition. The Rossoneri will rekindle their rivalry with Liverpool when the two teams on Merseyside in one of the matches in the Group of Death. Group B is widely seen as the Group of Death in the Champions League group stage this season. Apart from AC Milan and Liverpool, Spanish champions Atletico Madrid and FC Porto are the other teams in Group B.

Liverpool and AC Milan have only met twice in the Champions League and the two meetings were in the final. Liverpool and AC Milan were involved in a dramatic final in 2005 as the Reds came from three goals down at the half-time break to score three times in six second half minutes and force extra time. The Reds went on to win the 2005 Champions League final via penalties. AC Milan were able to avenge their 2005 Champions League final defeat at the hands of Liverpool during the 2007 Champions League final. Milan beat Liverpool 2-1 in the 2007 Champions League final.

Milan and Liverpool have both started the new league season well. The Rossoneri have three wins from three games in the new Italian Serie A season, while the Reds have three wins and one draw in four matches in the new Premier League campaign.
