LIVERPOOL DUO DOUBTFUL FOR BRIGHTON GAME

Liverpool have doubts over both Roberto Firmino and IbrahimaKonate ahead of the Premier League trip to face Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Saturday. The two players missed out on the Inter Milan game in the Champions League on Tuesday due to respective injuries. Firmino and Konate were not in the Liverpool squad that lost 1-0 to the Italian champions at home in the second leg of their last 16 tie, but still progressed into the quarterfinals with a 2-1 aggregate victory.

Brazilian international attacker Roberto Firmino has not played for Liverpool since he suffered a muscle injury at the end of the first leg clash with Inter Milan on the Champions League stage. Firmino came on for injured Portuguese player Diogo Jota at the half-time interval and he went on to score the opener for the Reds before the deflected strike from fellow attacker Mohamed Salah wrapped up the 2-0 away win. He has missed all the Liverpool games till date since that Inter Milan game. It remains to be seen if the former TSG Hoffenheim player will make the Premier League squad for the Brighton game. In his pre-match presser before the latest Inter Milan game, Liverpool boss JurgenKlopp told the press that Firmino has returned to training, but he won’t be rushed.

Konate signed for Liverpool last summer from German team RB Leipzig and he has been regularly used by Klopp at centre back. He picked up a knock in the last Premier League game at home to London team West Ham United and it made him miss the Inter Milan game this week. As a result, he’s a doubt for the Brighton game.

Liverpool are yet to register a win against Brighton this season after their first league meeting ended in a 2-2 draw at Anfield. Liverpool raced into a two-goal lead in the first half before they were pegged back by Brighton via a goal in each half.
