ROBERTSON BAGS THREE-MATCH BAN

Scotland international captain Andy Robertson will miss the next three Liverpool games after he was sent off against North London outfit Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League at the weekend. His red card ensured that Robertson will miss the next three Liverpool games in all competitions.

Robertson was given his marching orders in the 77th minute after his challenge on Tottenham Hotspur right-back Emerson Royal. The Scottish fullback was lucky to stay on the pitch until that point as he was on the end of a poor tackle from Spurs striker Harry Kane in the first half. Kane should have been sent off after giving Spurs a 13th minute lead off the assist from French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele. Portugal international star Diogo Jota was the recipient of the Liverpool equaliser on 35 minutesoff the assist from the abovementioned Robertson as he scored his tenth league goal of the season. Jota is the now the second leading goalscorer in the Premier League after Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah who has 15 goals. Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur settled for a 1-1 draw at the end of the first half with the goals from Jota and Kane respectively.

Robertson scored the second Liverpool goal in the 69th minute and he went from hero to villain within eight minutes when he was sent off. By the time of his red card, Spurs had drawn level through Heung-Min Son in the 74th minute mainly due to the error on the path of Alisson Becker.

With his red card against Spurs, Robertson will now miss two Leicester City games and the Leeds United clash in the Premier League. The Scottish defender won’t be in the Liverpool squad when they take on Leicester City in the Carabao Cup quarterfinals. Robertson will also miss out on the Liverpool squad for the Leeds United game on Boxing Day. He will also miss the Leicester City game in the Premier League next week.
