Liverpool defender and captain Virgil van Dijk has provided a positive update regarding his journey to regaining full fitness once again on his social media page, and it is what the club’s fans would love to see. The Reds have missed the presence of their skipper so badly following the injury he suffered against Everton in the Merseyside derby earlier in the season which ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.
Netherlands international defender Van Dijk recently took to his social media page to reveal that he has been working closely with the club’s fitness doctors and has been ensuring that he has been following instructions correctly in a bid to mark his return from injury earlier than expected if possible. He is due to miss the rest of the season, but he has revealed that he is working hard to see if he could play a part in Liverpool’s final games of this season as it would help his rehabilitation process.
According to reports, Liverpool have sealed an agreement with RB Leipzig for the transfer of defender Ibrahima Konate who is reportedly expected to move to Anfield in the summer. He could be the new partner for Van Dijk, putting a huge question mark over the future of English defender Joe Gomez at Anfield. However, the reports are still subject to confirmation.
